My research, teaching, and activism draw on decolonial feminist perspectives to examine the politics of (in)visibility and the production of social and administrative inequalities. Focusing on the intersections of migration, gender, race, class, and religion, I study how power operates in global cities across Europe, the United States, and Mexico.
I currently hold a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Fellowship, with affiliations at the University of Birmingham (UK) and the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University, where I am also a postdoctoral researcher at the Weatherhead Scholars Program. My project, VIMUS — (In)Visibility of Illegalized Migrants in Urban Settings, investigates how race, gender, class, religion, and legal status intersect to shape migrants' everyday experiences. Grounded in interdisciplinary methods, my work advances ethical and inclusive approaches to migration governance.
I hold a PhD from the Department of Political and Social Sciences at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), where my dissertation contributed to theoretical and empirical discussions on the governance of irregular migration at the city level. I serve as an elected Executive Committee member of the Council for European Studies (CES) and co-chair its Immigration Research Network. I am also an affiliated researcher with the Urban Sanctuary, Migrant Solidarity, and Hospitality in Global Perspective Project at Toronto Metropolitan University, and with MUNMIGRA at UPF.
Across my career I have collaborated with the United Nations University World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER) on affirmative action policies, the European University Institute on citizenship, and contributed to ERC projects including MIGRADEMO at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, ETHNICGOODS at the Institut Barcelona d'Estudis Internacionals(IBEI). I have held visiting fellowships at European University Institute, the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity, and Aalborg University, and am an active participant in IMISCOE and CES networks.
When not in the field or at the desk, I paint in watercolour and watch birds.
